Tip #1 – Focus On Publishing Quality Content

New bloggers will often post something on their blog just for the sake of saying they posted something. This is never a good idea. When you make a post make sure it is valuable. Make sure it is something your audience will enjoy reading. The best thing you can do for your blog is publish quality content on a regular basis.

Tip #2 – Create A Blogging Schedule

If you plan on blogging once a week, make sure you stick with that schedule. If you say once a month, make sure you do it. It doesn’t matter when and how you blog as long as you are consistent with it. If you know you won’t be able to make your regular posts for a certain period of time use a blogging software and schedule it to go out on certain days. This way your blog will always have fresh, new content.

Tip #3 – Choose The Right Keywords

Most bloggers focus on keywords that will attract visitors and not buyers. There is a big difference. You should not choose your keywords based on traffic alone. You want your keywords to be specific and geared towards attracting potential customers. Google has tools that can help you find the best keywords for your audience. Use those keywords to create your blog posts around.

Tip #4 – Engage Your Audience Through Different Forms Of Media

Don’t get me wrong. Text is great. But that isn’t the only way you can engage your audience. For best results you should use a variety of different media forms. For example, you can use videos, webinars, infographics and podcasts.

Tip #5 – Make Sure Your Blog Is Responsive

With most people accessing the internet from a mobile device it is very important your blog is responsive. A responsive blog is simply one that will conform based on the device being used. The screen size and layout will change to fit the device. This makes your site easier to view.

Tip #6 – Generate Backlinks

Google will say they don’t look at incoming links anymore, truth be told it is still one of the main factors that determine how you rank in their search results. And while you should go out and get links from just any and everywhere, you should make a conscious effort to generate links from sites that are relevant. One simple way you can do this is to be active on social media sites and do guest posting.

Tip #7 – Be Willing To Pay For Good Content

I have already stated the importance of having quality content on your blog. However, you won’t always be able to create the content. Maybe you are too busy or you just don’t want to do it. Either way, be willing to pay for good content. Using guest bloggers is a great way to generate more traffic to your blog.

Tip #8 – Make It Easy For Readers To Share Your Content

One of the best ways to drive more free traffic to your blog is to make it easy for your readers to share your content. People like sharing things they love on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. So make sure you have the most popular sharing buttons on your blog.

Tip #9 – Stop Trying To Please Google

Listen, far too many people focus so much on trying to please Google that they forget two very important things. Number one, Google is not the only search engine. Number two, your content should be written for your readers, not the search engines. Google will never buy anything from you. Its your readers who will put money in your pocket. So focus on writing good content for your readers.  If your content is good Google will find it.

Tip #10 – More, More, More

Its no secret producing high quality content is the best way to boost your rankings in the search engines. So the more high quality content you put out the better. However, do not using blackhat methods to produce a high volume of content. Remember, the keyword here is quality. So no spinning!
