Seachem Cichlid Lake Salt

Seachem’s Cichlid Lake Salt™ is a precisely formulated blend of essential salts designed to replicate the natural environments of cichlid species. This specialized mix contains all physiologically vital elements, including magnesium, calcium, sodium, and potassium, along with important trace components such as iron, aluminum, and iodide. Importantly, it is free from harmful or unnecessary substances like nitrates, phosphates, arsenic, lithium, and cadmium, ensuring a safe and healthy habitat for your aquatic pets.

To maintain optimal water quality and replenish crucial trace elements between water changes, it is recommended to use Seachem’s Cichlid Trace™ alongside this salt. The dosing guidelines are tailored for different cichlid lake environments and are based on a 40 L (10 gallons*) volume: for Tanganyika, use 11 g (1.5 teaspoons); for Malawi, 5.5 g (3/4 teaspoons); and for Victoria, 3.6 g (1/2 teaspoon). Additionally, pH buffering can be adjusted with Seachem’s Tanganyika Buffer™ (pH 9.0–9.4) or Malawi/Victoria Buffer™ (pH 7.8–8.4) to maintain proper carbonate hardness and pH levels.

Ideal for aquarium setup and regular water changes, this lake salt should be dissolved in freshwater before use. When adding salt to an established tank, base the dosage on the amount of water being replaced. Avoid using salt when simply topping off evaporated water to maintain the delicate balance of your aquatic ecosystem.
